LPFM Not Coming to Superdome After All

It appears a new low-power FM that supporters wanted to set up in the Houston Astrodome for hurricane survivors won’t be built.
According to the Village Voice, FEMA officials were worried about evacuees fighting over radios and that electricity to power the station and other needs could tax resources. The FCC earlier had approval of the LPFM, as reported on RW Online.
It wasn’t clear how well the 30-watt station, supported by Prometheus Radio Project and Pacifica, would have been heard outside the dome.
The number of people living at the shelter has dropped to about 8,000, down from about 25,000.
