Mayah is providing more info about its new C11 product family, being introduced this month at IBC and the NAB Radio Show.
The codec line will have 14 models; the company emphasizes their small size, silent operation and efficiency.
Each C11 codec fits in half of a 19 inch rack width and is 1RU high. They are stackable for use in bigger installations and require no forced cooling; they consume 8W of power.
All provide audio over IP with SIP/RTP according to the EBU N/ACIP standard, Mayah said, resulting in broad interoperability with standard-based IP codecs of various manufacturers. The C11 supports an automatic optimization of the IP connection.
The C1140/1 and C1160/1 models are provided with four ISDN BRIs. Dual Ethernet interface of the C1190/1 can be used for redundant streaming or for separation of streaming and control. Also available is a C1180/1 audio encoder with ASI interface to deploy it in the DVB environment.
With optional interface cards C11 can be turned to a POTS codec; it can transmit and receive audio over wireless 3G/UMTS network. Some models allow simultaneous transmission and audio logging onto an SD card or USB memory stick. “It opens a door for the highly customized system solutions for emergency backup, regionalization, local jingle insertion or later re-transmission,” Mayah said.
Sixteen coding algorithms are available in the family including G.711/G.722 and MPEG Layer 2/Layer 3 as well as MPEG-4 HE AACv2 and AAC ELD. The line offers support of linear (PCM) audio, AES3 over IP as well as optional apt-X/Eapt-X range at ISDN or IP.
The codecs provide line inputs and outputs for mono or stereo signal, as well as AES/EBU in/out including ancillary data transmission. External devices can be controlled remotely via Opto In / Relay Out interface.
An optional redundant PSU powers up to eight units. “With the efficient management and monitoring software based on standards-based SNMP implementation C11 is ideally suitable for any audio contribution and distribution applications including n+1, 1+1 or n+m redundancy schemes.” EuroMedia Services offers a NetMon management system for the C11 codec family and other Mayah devices.
