Mentoring Program Encourages Qualified Candidates to Apply

The Mentoring & Inspiring Women in Radio Group announced that they are accepting applications for the 2016 Mildred Carter Mentoring Program through Friday, Feb. 5, 2016.

In order to qualify as a mentee, a woman must:

  • Have been in the industry for five years or more
  • Agree to actively participate in the process
  • Agree to total confidentiality during the mentoring program

A total of four applicants within the sales, marketing, programming and digital disciplines will be accepted. At least one spot will be designated for a programming candidate and one for a digital candidate. Potential applicants can start here.

Now in its 15th year, the mentoring program matches promising women with female professionals recognized as leaders in all aspects of radio.

“Not only do we anticipate hearing from many qualified applicants, we are encouraged by the caliber of radio professionals reaching out to us for this unique opportunity to gain valuable insights, knowledge and access to some of the most influential women in radio,” said 2016 MIW Radio Group’s Mentoring Committee Chair Lindsay Cerajewski, who is also director of partnership marketing and branded content for Emmis Digital in Chicago.

The program is named after Mildred Carter, who, along with her husband, founded the first African-American-owned radio station and subsequently ran it after her husband’s death before turning over control to her grandson in 1987.

The Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Group consists of top-level radio women across the U.S. who are dedicated to using their influence and resources to help women in radio develop strong management and leadership skills.
