Millennium Radio Group, LLC has agreed to acquire WKXW(FM) in Trenton, N.J. and two additional New Jersey radio stations from Press Communications, LLC.
“New Jersey 101.5” (WKXW) is the top grossing station licensed in Trenton. According to the BIA Financial Network, oldies/talk-formatted WKXW earned $7.6 million in 2000 and posted a 5.6 share in the fall ’00 Arbitron ratings for 12+, Monday through Sunday, 6 A.M. to midnight.
Millennium will also acquire WBUD(AM), licensed in Trenton, N. J., which earned $1 million in 2000 and posted a 3.3 share in the fall book, and WBSS(FM), licensed in Corbin City, N. J., from Press.
“We are particularly excited about our acquisition of ‘New Jersey 101.5,’ the premier radio station for New Jersey-focused news, talk, weather and traffic programming,” said Charles Banta, president of Mercury Capital Partners and a partner of Millennium Radio Group.
The transaction is expected to close by the third quarter of this year; terms of the deal were not disclosed.
