Technological advances, implementation strategies, consumer services and business planning in digital and mobile broadcasting will be key focuses at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2008.
Taking place 10–13 March in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the technical symposium, subtitled “Progression to Digital and Mobile Services,” will include a workshop session devoted to content and services for shortwave digital radio.
A conference session will provide an overview of the status of digital broadcasting across the Asia-Pacific region, with reports from Australia, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam. Day 2 of the Symposium will offer participants the “System Demonstrations: Exhibition Walkabout.”
Other conference sessions will cover issues such as “Mobile Systems ? Making the Appropriate Choices,” “Production Technologies for Multiple Platform Production,” “Telco Systems for Delivery of Mobile Multimedia Services” and “Infrastructure Planning: Digital and Mobile Services.”
In addition, the series of technology workshops will provide participants with a focused presentation of specific areas such as content protection, coverage planning, network monitoring and control, simulcast technologies, the radio-in-a-box concept and an “A to Z” of setting up a digital archive.
