More Time to File Localism Comments

Those wanting to file public comments with the FCC in the broadcast localism proceeding have more time. The commission has agreed to a request from NAB for an extension.
Originally, the commission asked for comments by Sept. 1 and replies by Oct. 1 on how broadcasters are serving the public interest and whether the agency needs to adopt new policies designed to promote localism in radio and TV.
Several parties asked for an extension, so the agency moved the deadlines to Nov. 1 and Dec. 1.
Given that more than 80,000 comments were filed initially, NAB asked for another extension. The FCC agreed and now reply comments in Docket 04-233 are due Jan. 3.
