NAB Creates Position to Boost State Association Outreach

Hires first exec under head Gordon Smith

NAB has named Sue Keenom, a former staffer to then-Sen. Gordon Smith, as the association’s senior vice president, state associations — a new position.

Keenom, who most recently served as executive director of the International Women’s Forum Leadership Foundation, will manage the National Association of Broadcasters’ outreach to broadcast associations in the various states.

She reports to Smith, who said effective grassroots coupled with the contributions of its state association partners are vital to NAB’s success.

Prior to heading the IWFLF, a group dedicated to advancing women’s leadership across careers, cultures and continents, Keenom served for 12 years on Smith’s staff when he was a member of the U.S. Senate. She capped her tenure in his office as director of administration.

Prior to that, she was an assistant vice president for First Interstate Bank of Oregon. She began her professional life with Citicorp in Walnut Creek, Cal.; she moved to New York, where she worked for Citibank. She has a background in program and administrative management, fundraising and event planning.
