Net Radio Tanks on Holiday

The MeasureCast Internet Radio Listening Index dropped 41 percent during the week of Dec. 24-30. The company attributes the drop to the Christmas holiday, when many workers were at home.
Internet radio listening was lowest on Dec. 25, the first time a weekday registered less listening than a weekend day.
“Internet radio is still largely an at-work phenomenon,” stated Bill Piwonka, vice president of marketing for MeasureCast. “That’s why we always see fewer people listening during holidays. While more people listen to Internet radio from home, office workers listen for longer periods of time.”
MeasureCast expects to the listening index to rise again in January.
Once again, JazzFM and Virgin Radio placed first and second, respectively, followed by MEDIAmazing at No.3 and Cablemusic’s Christmas Classic station at No. 4. KING(FM) placed at No. 5.
