The Apple iPhone’s video capabilities are notoriously poor and unutilized, therefore not often discussed by Apple acolytes.
That may be changing with the introduction of Ustream Broadcaster, according to a recent Los Angeles Times blog piece by Mark Milian.
The new app, available — where else? — at Apple’s App Store, makes use of the iPhone’s onboard digital camera to capture and stream video via WiFi or a 3G wireless network.
The article quotes Ustream cofounder John Ham as saying, “This is the first time on the iPhone globally that Apple has approved an application to let you broadcast to potentially millions.”
The app is free.
