Axia’s new PowerStation — 16 PowerStations, actually — will be used in a facility project at Southern California Public Radio in Pasadena.
The manufacturer reported the sale of the PowerStations and 16 Element consoles. SCPR will install them as part of Axia studios being built for flagship KPCC(FM). The sale includes Axia audio nodes and routing control software.
SCPR is part of American Public Media Group, which also operates Minnesota Public Radio, another Axia network user. MPR’s Tom Nelson said SCPR saw its original data switch budget cut by one third as a result and that it saved more because the Axia system simplified studio integration costs.
PowerStation is a scalable console engine that combines mixing engine, console CPU, audio I/O, machine logic, Ethernet switch and power supply. It will be introduced at the NAB Show next week.
