NextRadio Kicks Off College Street Team Program

Looking to expand its presence with youthful demographics, NextRadio wants to put college students on the street to help build brand awareness.

Looking to expand its presence with youthful demographics, NextRadio wants to put college students on the street to help build brand awareness. It soon will start accepting entries for a Spring 2016 NextRadio Street Team contest.

Students are being encouraged to submit entries on how to increase the app’s brand awareness; winners will form a Street Team to tell others about it.

The Emmis-backed app promises a local FM radio experience on smartphones; proponents hope it can help the U.S. broadcast industry develop a more substantial footprint on mobile devices.

“We are looking to get college students involved and informed about FM chips in smartphones and to introduce or re-introduce them to live, local radio,” said Maura Kautsky, vice president of marketing for NextRadio in an announcement.

Selected participants will receive a NextRadio-enabled smartphone with a three-month phone plan, $100 Visa gift card and NextRadio promotional items. The first-place winner will receive a $1,000 gift card, with smaller denominations for second and third place.

The submission period is March 7–18. Selected students will participate March 21–May 13.
