Nickelodeon and Clear Channel Launch Nick-Branded Radio Station

IHeart Radio also adds Turner Broadcasting content

Nickelodeon, an entertainment brand for kids, and Clear Channel Media and Entertainment have joined forces to launch Nick Radio, this week. Nick Radio will be available on the Nickelodeon website and through iHeartRadio.

Nick Radio will feature hit music; guest DJ stints; and Nick-branded entertainment and celebrity interviews, according to a release. The family-oriented station will be programmed by Sharon Dastur, program director for the New York’s Z100 and will stream on Nick.com, iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio digital app. Additionally, Relativity and Reel FX’s movie, “Free Birds,” have signed on as exclusive launch partners.

Ariana Grande, pop singer and co-star of Nickelodeon series “Sam & Cat,” was a guest DJ during Nick Radio’s first day. She was joined by Austin Mahone and Big Time Rush. Nick Radio will feature Nick Cannon, Cody Simpson and Jennette McCurdy as guest DJs.

Nick Radio will regularly feature popular DJs, including Mo’ Bounce of New York’s Z100, Maxwell of Q102 Philadelphia and Wendy Wild of 103.5 KTU(FM), who will host the station’s three dayparts, with Z100’s Erica America on weekends.

“On the Set With” will feature interviews with Nickelodeon’s live-action stars. “Nick Radio Top 10 Countdown” is a radio version of the weekly top 10 video show that airs on TeenNick. The “Nick Radio Dance Party” will be hosted by Nickelodeon’s J. Boogie, and this two-hour top 40 mix will air every Friday and Saturday night. The “Nick Radio Top 10” is a similar daily hour-long countdown of the most popular songs on the airwaves. Also, “Hangin’ With” will feature celebrity interviews.

Additionally, on Oct. 24, Nickelodeon and iHeartRadio will celebrate the new station with an event featuring live performances at the iHeartRadio Theatre presented by P.C. Richard & Son in New York. Fans can enter for a chance to win tickets, and a live stream of the event will be available through iHeartRadio.com.

Clear Channel has also struck a deal with Turner Broadcasting to offer select audio content, including news from CNN, entertainment clips from TBS’ “Conan” and sports programming from “Bleacher Report,” in its new iHeartRadio Talk feature.

IHeartRadio will offer monologue clips from “Conan,” news segments from CNN programs such as “Anderson Cooper 360,” “New Day,” “Piers Morgan Live” and “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” and sports clips from “Bleacher Report.” Full episodes of “Anderson Cooper 360,” “Fareed Zakaria GPS,” “State of the Union” and “Erin Burnett Out Front” will also be accessible via iHeartRadio Talk.

“We are continuing to identify and add quality partners to iHeartRadioTalk to continue to deliver our listeners even more content that is relevant and entertaining anywhere they are,” said Clear Channel’s President of Digital, Brian Lakamp.
