Nostalgia Convention Features Radio Documentary

‘Remembering Radio’ to kick off Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention

The sixth annual Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention, scheduled for Sept. 22–24 at the Marriott Hotel in Hunt Valley, Md. will be kicked off with a screening of the video documentary “Remembering Radio.”

Written and directed by former radio actor Dave Parker, “Remembering Radio” takes a look at the golden years of radio, with interviews of those in front of the and behind the scenes. It includes interviews with Frank Bresee, Tommy Cook, Norman Corwin, Ivan Cury, Cliff Carpenter, Fred Foy, June Foray, Art Gilmore, Jean Rouverol, Gil Stratton and Janet Waldo.

Radio-oriented sessions at the convention will include a look at “The Shadow,” a look at goodies that radio programs (and later TV programs) gave away along with the traditional live re-enactment of an old-time radio drama.

Naturally there will be plenty of sessions with TV and film themes, including a “Drive-In Movie” screening out in the parking lot. And as a nostalgia convention there will be sales of memorabilia and celebrities as well. Expected celebrities: Patty Duke, Davy Jones, Karen Valentine, Tony Dow and Lauren Chapin.
