NPR Goes Worldwide Over Satellite

International citizens and Americans overseas will soon have access to all the domestic programming of NPR thanks to an agreement the network has made with international satellite broadcaster WorldSpace. NPR programming will be available 24 hours a day to listeners with a portable, digital WorldSpace radio. WorldSpace estimates its potential audience at four billion people. NPR Worldwide transmits to audiences around the world on 140 radio stations, in approximately 25 million homes via direct broadcast satellite and in seven million homes via cable.
