The National Religious Broadcasters are concerned that an executive order might be issued requiring them to entertain “certain employment provisions” with which they might find in opposition to their faith.
A letter signed by NRB President and CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, expressed concern that provisions within the Employment Non-Discrimination Act could cause members of the organization to possibly be in conflict with federal law in living within their faith.
Johnson also was concerned that the law might be “convoluted,” and he said, “I am concerned that ambiguity regarding the rights of religious organizations is likely to stir litigation and to compromise one of our nation’s First Amendment liberties.”
