At its public meeting this week, the FCC plans to begin its review of its media ownership rules.
The scrutiny includes local radio ownership limits, the definition of a radio market and the ban on cross-ownership of stations and newspapers in a market.
The commission is considering a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for the ownership rules it passed in 2003, most of which were stayed pending appeals. Last year a federal court sent the rules back to the FCC for better numerical justification.
