Inrush Broadcast Services has signed radio engineer Rob Bertrand on as a partner in the company.

“He joins current partners Mike Dorris, Brian Sapp, Shaun Dolan and Cameron Boswell in leading the 13-person firm forward with his technology experience and passion for sustaining strong, healthy teams,” Inrush said in its announcement.

The broadcast technology service company was founded by Mike Dorris in 2019. It operates nationally and is based in the Lakeview area of Chicago.

“Bertrand will expand the company reach to the East Coast and will integrate his significant experience within the public media system and major-market commercial broadcasting.” He will continue to be based in the Washington area.

Bertrand most recently was technology head at WAMU in Washington where, as Radio World has documented, he led construction of the market’s largest community antenna system. “He [also] launched critical multiplatform content management systems as well as modernization of their traffic, automation and CRM platforms,” Inrush said in its release.

“Notably, he led the station’s operations through the pandemic, including its shift to 100% remote production.”

He was with WAMU for eight years until his position was eliminated early last year. Prior to that, Bertrand was market chief engineer for CBS Radio in New York, now part of Audacy, where his work included supporting multiple newsrooms and a 24/7 operations center, and launching the CBS Sports Radio Network. He started his career with Greater Media in New Jersey.

Dorris called Bertrand “a well-known technology leader in our industry [who] he cares so deeply about people and the audiences we serve.”
