Blubrry, Rev Offer Podcast Transcription and Captioning

Cochrane says it solves podcasting’s “accessibility problem”

Podcast distributor Blubrry has introduced a web-based podcast player that uses transcription products integrated with speech-to-text service Rev

“This will provide Blubrry podcasters with closed captioning, as well as transcriptions for inclusiveness, an industry first,” the company said.

Blubrry, based in Columbus, Ohio, is led by CEO Todd Cochrane; it provides hosting, distribution and analytics services to the podcast sector.

Content should be available for everyone in whatever format they desire or require,” the company said in its announcement.

“We are excited to offer an accessible podcast audio player, a first in podcasting, with our new transcription partner, Rev, the No. 1 speech-to-text service in the world.”

Transcriptions from Rev are integrated into the publishing system and the player.

Blubrry Hosting customers can use the service for free until mid-September. Podcasters can add the service for $10 a month with a translation limit equal to their media storage level.

Cochrane made the announcement with Rev CEO Jason Chicola.
