Radio Remembers ‘Kidd’ Kraddick

Syndicated host died Saturday at a charity event

“Kidd” Kraddick has died.

According to an account by CNN, David Kraddick died Saturday in New Orleans at a golf tournament where he was raising money for a charity. The syndicated radio personality was 53.

Broadcast company Entercom Communications was among those responding with surprise and sadness: “The world lost an amazing man and radio lost a tremendous talent,” said President/CEO David Field in a statement.

Kraddick hosted the show “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning,” according to a bio on the website of production company Yea Networks, which he chaired and founded; and he received numerous programming awards over the years.

News reports Sunday, including one on USA Today, said the cause of death had not been reported.

CNN reported Kraddick began his career as a disc jockey in high school, and was given his nickname by a PD in Tampa.

The network reported that Kidd’s Kids Charity, for which he was raising money this weekend, helps send children with chronic and terminal illnessess and their families to Disney World.
