Radio Sales Up 4% in September; RAB Adds Non-Spot Revenue to Its Count

Calling it “the first signs of recovery in ad sales,” RAB said local and national spot revenue was up 4% in September compared to September of last year.
Local ad sales were up 5%, the national sector up 1%.
Year to date, the industry’s sales are up 2%.
The RAB’s statistics now include non-spot revenue.
“We have been collecting and auditing non-spot revenue since January of 2002 and have found the reporting and accreditation to be accurate and sound,” Gary Fries said. “It is a truly legitimate revenue stream for radio that deserves to be reported, and it is being reported by the broadcasting companies as part of their monthly and quarterly revenue.”
