Verizon Wireless will begin running the first ads on HD2 stations in New York, according to Crain’s New York Business.
Four 10-second spots will run hourly on the multicast feed of Clear Channel station WHTZ(FM).
The publication quotes the Clear Channel market manager as saying, “There’s a lot of benefit to being the first one in there.”
Crain’s also quoted a Sirius spokesperson reacting to the news with, “It appears terrestrial radio is doing to HD Radio what it did to FM.”
