Rayfield Inducted in Philly

Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame welcomes inductee

Showing that there is no shortage of sports lovers anywhere, CBS Radio’s Marc Rayfield was inducted into the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame on Monday.

Rayfield is a senior vice president and market manager for the company’s Philadelphia operations. Under his watch is sports station WIP(AM/FM), news station KYW(AM), talk station WPHT(AM) and music station WOGL(FM). As such he oversees live broadcasts of the Phillies and the Eagles as well as Temple, St. Joe’s and Villanova athletic programs.

Long-time WIP morning show host Angelo Cataldi said in feigned amazement, “I think I speak for all of WIP in expressing our total shock that Marc is being honored as an elite athlete. He is an extraordinary boss, but he never struck any of us as athletically gifted.”

He added, “Thank you for honoring him. And thank you for giving us a chance to treat him like all other elite athletes in Philadelphia. We plan to start ripping him as soon as we find out what sport he played so well.”
