Regent Communications To Acquire WNYQ

Regent Communications To Acquire WNYQ

Regent Communications has agreed to acquire WNYQ(FM), Albany, N.Y. from Vox Radio Group for approximately $4.9 million in cash. When the transaction is completed, Regent will own and operate five FM radio stations and one AM radio station in the Capital Region.
Parties expect the deal, subject to regulatory approval, to close by the end of the third quarter.
Regent President/CEO Bill Stakelin said the deal reflects the company’s commitment to “prudently” pursue opportunities to expand its station footprint in our middle-and small-sized markets. Adding a fifth FM station in Albany will allow Regent to better serve both listeners and advertisers, while expanding audience and revenue shares, he said.
Upon the completion of all announced transactions, Regent will own and operate 74 stations located in 15 markets.
Dick Foreman of Richard A. Foreman Associates brokered the deal.
