Savage Changes Gears

AM digital radio complaint stands unresolved.

One of the elements of the IBOC power level increase request filed last week is that the commission would establish a procedure for quickly investigating and resolving “reasonably documented” interference complaints.

Speaking of such a complaint, Bob Savage of WYSL(AM), Avon, N.Y., tells me his gripe about interference from the digital signal of WBZ in Boston remains pending at the commission.

The dispute began last fall; Savage and CBS have a difference of opinion on whether WBZ is causing harmful interference to WYSL.

Savage now says he’s thinking of buying an FM translator to fill in WYSL’s service.

By our count, by the way, approximately 277 AM radio stations are currently licensed for HD Radio.
