SBE Announces New Fellows

Kelly, Lebermann, Thomas rewarded for long service and contributions to broadcast engineering

Chuck Kelly, Arthur Lebermann, CPBE and Barry Thomas, CPBE, CBNT have been elected to the membership grade of SBE Fellow, according to the Society of Broadcast Engineering.

Kelly is director of international sales for transmitter manufacturer Nautel. He is also a past national president of the SBE and the current chair for the SBE International Committee.

Lebermann is the transmitter supervisor for KGO(AM), KSFO(AM) and KMKY(AM) in the San Francisco Bay area. He is also chair of SBE Chapter 40, San Francisco.

Thomas is Lincoln Financial Media’s corporate vice president of engineering for radio. He is the immediate past president of the SBE.

The recipients will be recognized and formally receive their Fellow designation during the SBE National Meeting in Columbus, Ohio on Sept. 28, 2011. According to a release: “The SBE Fellow Award recognizes members who have rendered conspicuous service, or who have made valuable contributions to the advancement of broadcast engineering or its allied professions, the dissemination of knowledge thereof or the promotion of its application in practice.”

SBE President Vinny Lopez, CEV, CBNT said: “The Society is pleased and honored to add Kelly, Lebermann and Thomas to the highest level of SBE Membership, the SBE Fellow. All three have contributed greatly to the SBE over many years.”
