SBE Names Scherer President

Chriss Scherer succeeds Ray Benedict as president of the SBE on Oct. 20; he’ll be inducted during the SBE Annual Membership meeting in Dallas. Scherer ran unopposed.
A trade publication editor and senior member of the society, he has been a member of the organization since 1989 and is completing a term as national vice president. He is past chairman of Chapters 59 in Kansas City and 70 in Cleveland and has been chair of the SBE National Certification Committee since 2001.
Clay Freinwald was elected vice president. He is a corporate engineer with Entercom, and is a member of Chapter 16 in Seattle. He has been a member of the national SBE board since 1999 and a member since 1968.
Vincent A. Lopez was elected to his first term as secretary. He serves as director of engineering at WSYT/WNYS TV in Syracuse, N.Y.
Barry Thomas was elected to a term as treasurer. He is VP of engineering at Westwood One. Thomas is a senior member of SBE and a member of Chapter 15 in New York.
