The Senate Commerce Committee has slated hearings next week related to Hurricane Katrina: one on energy pricing, set for Sept. 21, the other on communications Sept 22.
Witnesses are yet to be announced. Chairman Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, and
Co-chairman Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, indicate the first panel will address the protection of critical communications infrastructure in a disaster. The second will address communications for first responders.
