As of June 30, Sirius had 480,341 subscribers. The company exceeded 500,000 subscribers on July 13, and expects to have one million subscribers by the end of this year. During the quarter, Sirius added 81,185 subscribers from aftermarket sales.
During the second quarter of 2004, Sirius added 47,652 subscribers through its automotive, boating and trucking relationships. Executives expect to add more subscribers through OEM sales in the future and less on aftermarket sales.
Executives told analysts that its subscriber churn rate fell from 2% at the end of the first quarter, to 1.6% at the end of the second quarter.
