Through public relations firm Joele Frank, Sirius and XM said thousands of consumers favor the merger of the two satellite radio companies.
Selected excerpts from public filings made to the FCC include this from a listener in Lubbock, Texas: “Vote for the merger. The people want it!”
Citing new programming choices from a new, merged, satellite radio company, a listener in Long Beach, N.Y., wrote: “Half my family loves the channels on Sirius and the other half loves the channels on XM. We cannot afford to carry both subscriptions. This will put an end to the family squabble.”
And to those opposing the merger, a listener from Shelbyville, Ind., stated: “If other businesses don’t like the merger, let them come up with a better way for me to hear what I want.”
