David Solomon will join communications law firm Wilkinson Barker Knauer as a partner in June. In March, we reported the FCC’s Enforcement Bureau chief planned to leave the agency next month. Solomon was appointed the first head of the Enforcement Bureau when it was created in 1999.
He has been at the agency 18 years.
Previously, Solomon worked for 12 years in the FCC General Counsel’s Office, as assistant general counsel for administrative law and then as deputy general counsel. He played a key role in the commission’s implementation of major telecom legislation, including the Telecommunications Act of 1996.
Prior to coming to the FCC, Solomon practiced communications law at Crowell & Moring and worked for then-Sen. Paul Simon.
Linda Blair returned to the Enforcement Bureau as deputy chief after Solomon’s impending departure became public.
