Sony Ericsson Adds Radio to Phones

The R300 Radio and R306 Radio are "designed to deliver a credible radio-listening experience to a global audience, and ideally suited to emerging markets such as India."

Sony Ericsson has launched two new mobile phones with AM/FM reception capability. The company stated that the phones — the R300 Radio and R306 Radio — are “designed to deliver a credible radio-listening experience to a global audience, and ideally suited to emerging markets such as India.”

Both models feature dedicated radio speakers (stereo on the R306 Radio) and preset channel buttons and 3D sound enhancement and volume boost for noisy environments. It can also record a clip of a song and use it as a ringtone.

Also standard on both phones is TrackID, which identifies song title and artist information from a snippet of audio.

The main difference between the Bluetooth-enabled phones is the form-factor of the phone: the R300 Radio is “candy bar” shaped; the R306 Radio is a clamshell phone.
