TAB to Honor Five

Gala awards scheduled for Aug. 10

The Texas Association of Broadcasters will honor five “exceptional industry leaders” at its Awards Gala during the association’s annual Convention and Trade Show, Aug. 9–10, in Austin, Texas.

One could almost call it a radio sweep for the Aug. 10 event.

Receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award will be Wendell Mayes Jr, the son of another well-known Texas radio broadcaster. Broadcaster of the Year will be Brian Purdy of CBS Radio’s Dallas-Fort Worth cluster.

Recipient of the George Marti Award for Engineering Excellence will be Errol Coker, KHCB Radio Network. The Associate of the year will be Dan Sessler of equipment supplier RF Specialties.

And Pioneer of the Year will be Bob White, a former radio and TV broadcaster and past chairman of the board of the TAB.
