Tascam Debuts Upgraded CD-R at NAB

Tascam, the audio division of the TEAC Corp., upgraded its CD-RW700 CD recorder, and debuted the CD-RW750 at NAB last week. The company says the 2 RU rack-mounted unit retains the features of its predecessor, including 24-bit digital converters, CD-R and CD-RW support and S/PDIF digital I/O, and offers new ones, such as CD Text, which allows the user to program and view a title for a disc; skip-free single playback; and A/B repeat.
Thanks to its monitor section, the CD-RW750 can be used as a standalone A/D converter or sample rater converter without placing a blank disc in the tray. The unit’s RAM buffer enables accurate ID marks and a digital fade-in and fade-out from three to 30 seconds. A wireless remote also is included.
Two analog RCA inputs and outputs are featured, as well as coaxial and optical I/O for stereo S/PDIF.
Applications for professional recording include recording a mix to CD for distribution, mix checking or backup, while post-production crews will find it useful in recording finished projects or voiceover work to CD for output.
