That Old-Time Radio Religion

Fans of the golden age can get their fix in August in Maryland

The Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention will have a healthy helping of old-time radio. The convention will take place Aug. 27–29 at the Clarion Hotel in Aberdeen, Md.

The Yesterday USA Radio Networks, a network dedicated to old-time radio programming, will be there with DJ Neal Ellis and a live broadcast from the show floor. Ellis will also have a presentation, “Radio Was There,” a re-enactment of several famous radio news broadcasts.

Classic radio program historian Terry Salomonson will discuss the various radio (and TV) series featuring the character Sergeant Preston of the Yukon.

The radio pinnacle of the convention will be the recreation of an “Old-Time Radio Drama,” from the 1930s or 1940s. Show to be determined. The cast will consist of people from the show, exhibitors and guests.

Author and OTR show re-creator Gary Yoggy will moderate a discussion on the top 10 radio programs from the 1930s–1950s.
