Translator Cap in Question; FCC Stops Its Dismissal Process for Now

The commission received four requests to reconsider its cap.

The FCC has stopped dismissing FM translator applications that exceed a filer’s 10-app limit.

The Media Bureau in March released a notice inviting Auction 83 applicants to identify which short-form applications they would prefer to be dismissed in light of the cap related to the LPFM proceeding. Dismissal requests were due April 3.

However, the commission received four requests to reconsider its cap; it is doing so and has suspended dismissals in the meantime, and will reinstate any translator applications dismissed following the March 4 notice.

The agency continues to process the paperwork for any entity with 10 or fewer applications on file as of March 4.
