Web audio stream aggregator adds police and fire scanners

Can it get any better, or geekier?

TuneIn, the Web audio stream aggregator, has added the audio feeds from some 3,000 police and fire scanners. From Car 54 in the Bronx to Adam-12 or Station 51 in Los Angeles, there are scanners from police and fire departments across the country (also including air and rail as well).

What next, TuneIn, radio astronomy? Tracking transmitters for wild animals? Sign us up!

TuneIn also is providing the ability to donate to public station KQED(FM). A recent blog post indicates that the latter offering a test.

It has also upgraded the iOS (Apple) GUI to allow for muting and indication that the recording function is on.
