The Obama administration is making a bigger deal out of its mobile apps.
While many of the 16 apps now featured on USA.Gov are not new, the administration decided that a centralized location for the apps would increase their visibility, according to the site, which acts as a clearinghouse for online government information.
Most of the items in the “app store” are extensions of a branch or agency of the federal government and right now, they’re all free.
Some are just cool, like the mobile tour of the Library of Congress, while others are practical, like the FCC’s app that helps you test the upload and download speed and latency of your mobile broadband connection.
