In early January, work began on a new radio-television station for Louangphabang province in northern Laos.
Funded by Vietnam, the the 57.2 billion d?ng project will have a 110-meter antenna tower, a 5 kW TV transmitter and a 10 kW FM transmitter, according to VOV News. The funding comes from the Vietnamese government’s non-refundable aid for Laos for 2006–2010.
The Louangphabang project is slated for completion by June 2010. In December, construction began on a similar Vietnam-funded station in the southern province of Champasak, and additional stations are slated to be built in Savannakhét and Oudomxay provinces.
