WGN Radio and its sister media — WGN(TV) and Chicago Tribune — raised some $800,000 for tornado relief for the Nov. 17 tornadoes. The station raised money on Nov. 26.
The multiplatform effort brought in about $550,000, and a matching grant from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation added $250,000.
Contributions will be accepted until the end of December. Funds raised will be distributed to nonprofit groups involved in areas affected by the tornadoes.
