WQXR's Bartunek Named President of New York Times Radio

Tom Bartunek, general manager for The New York Times Co.’s classical music station WQXR(FM), was named president of New York Times Radio. He will continue as general manager of WQXR, which now becomes part of the company’s News Services division.
Bartunek will be responsible for expanding distribution of Times-branded news and information on radio. He also will continue to expand WQXR programming, sales outlets and partnerships.
Bartunek joined the station in 1990 as director of operations, and later served as VP of programming and operations before becoming president and general manager in 1998. Earlier he had been an executive with satellite communications company Wold Communications.
“The Times has been vigorously pursuing a multi-platform distribution strategy to broaden the outlets for its distinguished news and information and Tom has been one of our most seasoned radio champions along the way,” said Thomas Carley, president of The New York Times News Services. “In his new assignment, Tom will jump-start our efforts to bring radio further into that mix, in all its incarnations.”
