W.Va. Radio Buys Stations

Magic Broadcasting sells to Evolution Broadcasting in Florida

West Virginia Radio Corp. has purchased WEPM(AM), WLTF(FM) and WICL(FM) in the Martinsburg, W.Va., area from Prettyman Broadcasting. WVRC has 34 other stations in West Virginia and western Maryland. It also operates the MetroNews Statewide Network.

WVRC President and CEO Dale B. Miller was quoted in the local Journal-News: “We will probably rebuild WEPM, and take a long look at the FM stations.” He added, “We will probably be adding personnel … We want to supplement and augment the news department. WVRC believes in local news and the Martinsburg stations can serve as a bureau for MetroNews. We want to extend the news operation in the market. And we’ll probably have more live personalities.”

In other sales news, Evolution Broadcasting bought WPCF(AM) from Magic Broadcasting II in a deal between Panama City Beach entities.
