XM Satellite Radio will air a recent and “exclusive” interview with Yusuf Islam, the singer/songwriter formerly known as Cat Stevens, this Thursday, Sept. 30, at 8 a.m. Eastern on XM Public Radio (XM Channel 133).
Islam was barred from entering the United States on Sept. 21 after the Department of Homeland Security diverted a London-to-Washington flight carrying the musician. According to the Associated Press, government officials said Islam had been placed on a no-fly list because of national security concerns.
The 30-minute special on XM Public Radio will include an interview with Islam by XM on-air host George Taylor Morris taped at the XM studios in Washington on May 20.
Encore broadcasts of the interview will air on Thursday at 8:30 a.m., 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Eastern. The program will also air Thursday on the rock channel Deep Tracks (XM Channel 40) at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Eastern.
