WATCH: Gracenote at NAB Show 2018

Radio Station ID now integrates with Apple CarPlay; Ashley Adams explained at the NAB Show

Gracenote says it helps people connect to music, TV shows, movies and sports across popular entertainment platforms and devices.

The company is owned by Nielsen, which acquired it from Tribune early last year. Nielsen subsequently announced it would adopt Gracenote IDs as the standard content identifier across its audience measurement solutions.

Radio World visited its suite at NAB Show 2018 to hear from Ashley Adams about the Radio Station ID offering, which now integrates with Apple CarPlay; see the video above.

The company says Gracenote Radio Station ID lets car occupants find and tune into their desired content by radio formats, station logos and locations. It uses Automatic Content Recognition to deliver song metadata as well as cover art.

“Radio Station ID solves for this by automatically providing available local radio station information as drivers move in and out of signal range and enabling smart user interfaces that visually display official station logos and names and rich metadata,” the company says.

“Covering analog and digital broadcasts globally (AM, FM, HD and DAB), Radio Station ID ensures drivers will always be able to discover new stations that fit their format preferences and find old stations they already love.”
