The Funnies

Laughter is the best medicine

In the course of the research for many things from engineering to voice work, plus the stuff friends send, I get some pretty interesting links. Besides being an engineer for “my daily bread,” I still do voice work and have friends who are in the “major leagues” of voice work. I always enjoy seeing work from those guys in videos and old studio tapes, but here’s some neat old stuff from some very recognizable voices and personalities.

The Flintstones
Many of us grew up watching the first really successful prime-time cartoon “The Flintstones” (wayyy before The Simpsons). We may not have known Alan Reed by name, but we all knew the voice of Fred Flintstone. And Barney Rubble? Well that was the voice behind many cartoon greats … Mel Blanc. Here are some cool behind-the-scenes photos related to the making of The Flintstones.

The Flintstones, Part II
Here’s an old TV show which featured Alan Reed, plus some other incredible TV greats. What’s neat about this is just seeing these guys “hanging out” and just being themselves. Moe Howard (Three Stooges), Mel Blanc, and others are here. Great piece of TV history!

Two-Line Jokes
After seeing Mel Blanc, Moe Howard and Alan Reed, here’s something that should give you another laugh … Plus some jokes worth sharing.

And Finally …
Most people in radio have lent their voices to a spot or may have even been a DJ (aka “on-air personality”). Here’s an “Announcer’s Test” you might enjoy taking (or giving to your station’s jocks). Good luck taking this one!
