Alert FM, an emergency information delivery system from Global Security Systems, is now available in an app format for iOS and Android devices.
The app gathers info from the local, state and federal emergency information sources as well as iMap weather radio data.
The basic app is free allowing users receive weather forecasts, radar along with watches and warnings for a current location plus one other designated location. Additional features such as push notifications, audio, map overlays and additional designated locations can be purchased.
GSS General Manager Jim Lowery said, “This app is the first of its kind to combine federal, state, or local alerting with critical weather information … Users are able to get the all the information they need to take the proper steps to protect themselves and their families.”
Jim Britt, emergency manager for Oktibbeha County, Miss. Said, “In addition to Alert FM receivers, the Alert FM app gives our residents another avenue to receive critical information directly from my office … on the device that they carry with them every day.”
