Dynaudio Debuts Desktop Speaker

Company celebrates 20th anniversary, DBM50 has an angle on sound

To celebrate its 20th birthday, Dynaudio Acoustics decided to make some modifications.

The company, which has been catering to audio and broadcast professionals for two decades, and says that it will continue to “focus on pristine audio recreation, high-quality craftsmanship and innovation,” has changed its name to Dynaudio Professional.

In related news, Dynaudio Professional is putting its latest speaker onto the desktop.

Like traditional Dynaudio speakers, the two-way DBM50 is a powered speaker. The low end is taken care of with a 7.1-inch woofer and the high end is serviced via a 1.1-inch soft dome tweeter. The drivers are handcrafted in Denmark, according to Dynaudio.

Also according to Dynaudio, the angled cabinet design is conducive to desktop placement. Specs are: 46 Hz – 21 kHz. A switchable high-pass filter (60 Hz, 80 Hz) is included. The onboard amp delivers 50 W to the woofer and 50 W to the tweeter.

An optional master volume controller is available. The DBM50 is expected to debut in summer.

Price: $499 per speaker.
