Harris Grows Its HD Radio Offerings

Will Show HPX line of FM/FM+HD Radio high-power transmitters

Harris Corp. is bringing to the NAB Show a new line of HD Radio transmitters among other HD Radio-related equipment.

Top of the news is the HPX line of FM/FM+HD Radio high-power transmitters. Depending on mode and power level, the Harris HPX transmitter achieves power levels up to 42 kW analog FM, using either the 4CX20,000 or 4CX25,000 series Radial Beam Power Tetrode tube. The HPX is compatible with FlexStar exciters for multicast performance.

Onboard diagnostic tools can be accessed either at the transmitter via an LCD screen or remotely via the Web.

Also new in HD Radio transmitters for Harris is the ZX5000, the latest and now most powerful member of the ZX family. Like the HPX transmitters, the ZX5000 is multicast-capable and compatible with FlexStar, MicroMax and DigitCD exciters. It reaches up to 5.5 kW in analog FM power. Size-wise it fills 16 rack units. Harris Platinum Z trimode FM modules are the heart of the system.

The ZX5000 is also controllable via the Web. It has redundant and hot-swappable power supplies. Designed for easy maintenance.

Also new is the HDE-200 embedded exporter. The HD-200 offers remote and front-panel operation and an internal GPS module. Options include profanity and diversity delays and Arbitron Portable People Meter.
