New Fireface Interface From RME

Digital audio interface offers a passel of input types

For the serious production studio, Germany-based studio equipment maker RME has another one of their new high-end Fireface audio interfaces available.

Perhaps a bit pricey for many but the Fireface UFX II offers most every type of input imaginable — analog on XLR-1/4-inch combi connectors, analog balanced line on 1/4-inch; ADAT-S/PDIF on optical squares; AES/EBU on XLR plus it has two MIDI track channels, USB connectors and word clock. There can be up to 30 input channels.

Its sample rate choices top out at 192 kHz.

Mathias von Heydekampf, managing director of RME’s U.S. distributor, Synthax, said, “The new RME Fireface UFX II delivers the overwhelming majority of the features found on RME’s flagship Fireface UFX+, but does so at a price point that enables more audio professionals than ever to take advantage of its state-of-the-art features and capabilities.”

The one rack unit Fireface UFX II is compatible with RME’s optional USB remote controller. Price: $2,499 (MSRP).
