So maybe the world isn’t exclusively revolving around smartphones these days. At least Olympus thinks not.
The manufacturer of handheld “dictation” recorders that also have been favorites of some radio personnel has three new handheld recorders among its WS line.
The WS-710M and WS-700M offer microSD card slots for additional memory, slide-out USB tongues for direct connection to computers, MP3 (up to 256 kbps) and WAV (up to 16-bit/44.1 kHz) file formats and offer organizing features for MP3 playback.
The top-of-the-line model, WS-710M offers 8 GB of onboard memory — and an onboard FM tuner. The WS-700M has 4 GB of internal memory.
The WS-600S records MP3 files (up to 192 kbps) and has 2 GB internal memory (no microSD card slot).
All three models have a stereo mic configuration, thumb toggle controls and a 30 percent larger LCD screen than previous models according to Olympus.
Prices: WS-710M – $149.99; WS-700M – $99.99; WS-600S – $79.99.
