Audio streaming technology developer StreamS/Modulation Index has added a new streaming encoder to its line of HLS encoders, StreamS2 HLSdirect. (It joins the existing StreamS4, StreamsS8 and StreamS16.)
The encoder runs as a service and does not require a specialized server. It will provide four streams per each of its two sources while offering a wide range of bitrates for maximum stream reliability, the company explains.
The StreamS2 HLSdirect works with the entire AAC family of codecs including xHE-AAC. The company adds that unlike other xHE-AAC codecs that only work with ICY streams, StreamS2 HLSdirect will work with xHE-AAC for an advanced adaptive bitrate solution.
